Willard George Hennis

Willard George Hennis, 88, of Anderson, went into the arms of Jesus on January 23, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson. He was born on January 26, 1934, in Anderson, Indiana. Willard graduated from Middletown High School, class of 1952. He retired from Anderson University Food Service. He previously worked at McCroy's Five and Dime (where he met his wife), National Tile, Nicholson File, and Johns Manville. He was a First Elder at both Central Community Chapel and Riverview CCU where he made the altar and ministered to children. He had also been the president of IGM, and loved woodworking, crafts, painting, gardening, golf, 5 Day Clubs, and CEF. He had also been a Boy Scout Leader, and loved the Colts and spending time with family. Willard is survived by his children, Larry Joe Hennis, Brenda Sue Whitaker, Patricia (Michael) McDonald, John (Tina) Hennis; grandchildren, Joshua Gibbs, Jason Hennis, Matthew (Lucy) Hennis, Jeremy Hennis, Michael Hennis, Roger (Shelley) Eubank, Brandy (Kyle) Horn, Amanda Capshaw, Bridget (Dave) Cave, Gretchen Darr, Stephanie McDonald, Cayla McDonald, Jericca McDonald, Cody Malone, Chelsea Malone, Johnny (Shelby) Stone, Shannon Moody, Stephanie ( Jake) Matzenbacher, and Jenny Gross; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Elijah, Nivayah, Amayah, Dylan, Rebekah, Jason G., Savanna, Haliey, Illiana (Tre), Jourdan, Ethan, Elizabeth, Catelin, Lillian, Sarah, Benjamin, Joseph, Zachary, Trenton, Haley, Hannah, Lauren, Noah, Isaac, Noah, Braxton, Addison, Temperance, Christopher, Chasity, Triston; great-great-grandchildren, Oaklyn, Demillo, Perseus; special grandchild, Fred Rayford, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dianna M. Hennis; son, Willard Allen Hennis; father and stepmother, John W. and Catherine (Miller) Hennis, mother, Gladys (McCarty) Hennis; daughter-in-law, Teresa Hennis, brother, Robert "Jack" Smithand , sister, Edna Rainey, son-in-law, Henry Whitaker, grandchildren, Heather Hennis and Rev. Benjamin Capshaw; brother-in law and sister-in-law, Jack and Joan Smith; brothers-in-law, James and John Vukich. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, IN. Services will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Amanda Capshaw and Rev. Fred Rayford officiating. Burial will take place in the East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. The family would like to thank the entire staff of St. Vincent Hospice and the Nurses for their excellent care.
