Wanda Lynn Niccum

Wanda Lynn (Black) Niccum, a vibrant soul born on August 3, 1950, in Clearfield, KY, decided to peacefully exit this world on August 20, 2024, in Summitville, IN, at the age of 74. After a decade-long, courageous battle with cancer, she finally decided it was time to rest - but not without leaving a legacy that will have us all talking for years. Wanda, the beloved daughter of Viola and Ezra Black, (who undoubtedly had their hands full with her stubborn streak), the proud sister of Sheryl Turk and wife of Charles Robert Niccum. Together, they built a family full of love, laughter, and just the right amount of mischief. Wanda's two daughters, Angela Emmons and Andrea Banter (Josh) are proof that her blend of strength, resilience, and boundless love could be passed down through the generations. Her grandkids - Justin Emmons (Taylor), Ashley Emmons (Matt), Chloe and Brady Shields, Lauren and Olivia Banter, and Tinsley Jones, and her niece, Leighia Turk - were the apples of her eye. Wanda was many things, a gardener with a green thumb that could rival the best of them, a quilter who could turn fabric scraps into masterpieces, and a generous soul who believed in giving back. St. Jude's and the Second Harvest Food Bank were just two of the causes supported with her time and resources. Stubborn? Oh, you bet she was. But that stubbornness was wrapped in layers of caring, love, and a resilience that inspired everyone around her. She lived life her way, and that's how we'll remember her - strong, caring, loving, and with just the right amount of sass. Wanda is now reunited with her beloved parents, Viola and Ezra Black, her husband, Charles Niccum, her dear sister, Sheryl Turk, and her precious great-grandchild, Tristyn Jones, and son-in-law, Anthony Shields. The family takes comfort in knowing that they are together again, sharing in peace and love. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Wei, Dr. Reddy, and Dr. Storey for their exceptional care and dedication in Wanda's final years. A celebration of life gathering will take place on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the Community Room at Loose Funeral Homes from 4 pm - 7 pm.
