Noah A. Haygood, Sr.

Knightstown - Noah A. Haygood, Sr., 80, Knightstown, passed away September 27, 2007 at Indiana Heart Hospital-Indianapolis after an extended illness. He was born near Lapel, to Leslie Alvin and Dorothy Etta Madonna Hilligoss Haygood. He lived in the Ingalls and Lapel area most of his life and had lived in Knightstown for the past 16 years. He retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors Plant 10 in 1983 after 34 1/3 years. He served in the 371st Air Engineer Squadron in World War II. He was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life and a life time member of the NRA. He married Thelma K. Clark on February 14, 1954 whom he had four children, Kathy, Nola, Noah Jr. and Sandy. He had two children, Jolinda and Madonna, by his first marriage to Billie Joan Brown whom he married in 1948. He is survived by his daughters, Madonna Sue Paul Wentworth of Spencer, Kathy L. Ron Dice of Knightstown and Nola Jeanne Bill Martin of Anderson; son, Noah A. friend, Donna Freeman Haygood, Sr. of Fortville; two brothers, Jim Haygood of Ingalls and David Sylvia Haygood of Freedom; a sister, Martha Schoolcraft of Noblesville, 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren who he loved very much, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also survivng are special friends Carol and Raymond Inman, Mary Bell Savage, Dick Clevenger and Walt Mills. The family would like to thank everyone at the Indiana Heart Hospital and Hancock Memorial Hospital for the special care given to our loved one during this time, especially Dr. Blair MacPhail. He was preceded by his wife, Thelma K. Clark Haygood on September 1, 1994; his 1st wife, Billie J. Brown Haygood in 1952; two daughters, Jolinda S. Lich and Sandra K. Hendrick; his father, Leslie Alvin Haygood; mother, Dorothy E.M. Hilligoss Thompson; step-father, Charles N. Thompson; sisters, Norma J. Denger and Clara M. Sewell and brothers, Donald L. and Edward L. Haygood. Services will be Monday, October 1, 2007 at 1:00 PM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson, with Rev. Leonard Dice and his brother, David Haygood officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery-Pendleton.
