Maurice C. ''Bill'' White

Anderson - Maurice C. ''Bill'' White, 81, Anderson, died September 11, 2002 at Community Hospital, Anderson after extended illness. He was born March 19, 1921 in Lapel, Indiana, and resided in Anderson, Indiana. He lived in this area all of his life. He retired from the US Army in 1972 after 30 years of service. He also retired in 1986 as a Finish Carpenter for Harley Campbell Construction for 14 years and was an upholsterer all around Central Indiana for 40 years. He was a 1940 graduate of Pendleton High School. He served in the 101st Airborne during WWII. He parachuted into Normandy on D Day and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. His military awards include Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster 2, the Purple Heart, Meritorius Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Master Parachutist Badge with Two Battle Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge. He attended South Anderson United Methodist Church in Anderson. He was a life member of the American Legion in Pendleton,Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, 101st Airborne Division and Military Order of the Purple Heart. He is survived by his Wife whom he married April 18, 1946 in Dillon, South Carolina: Jean Gennett White. Nine Children: Connie White of Brandon, Florida. William White of Houston, Texas. Kathy White & husband David Reger of Ocala, Florida. Stephen White & wife Sharyn of Vacaville, California. Leslie ''Deanie'' White of Anderson. Shelby Savage & husband Rick of Anderson. Wesley White & wife Sharon of Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. James ''JR'' White & wife Yumi of Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. Melanie White of Rockville, Maryland. One Sister: Nora Hofer & husband Cricket of Indianapolis. Two Brothers: Robert White & friend Ruby of Daleville. Kenneth White of Anderson. Twelve Grandchildren and Four Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Mother & Stepfather: Bell Davis & Frank Fox. Daughter: Jeanie ''Missy'' White Ammlung. Sister: Lena Cloud. Services will be Monday, September 16, 2002 at 2:30 PM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel. 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson, with Rev. John Hackney of South Anderson United Methodist Church. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson . Visitation will be from 2-6:00 PM on Sunday, September 15, 2002 at funeral home, south chapel. Military rites will be by the Pendleton American Legion.
