Laura J. (Bickel) Allgire

With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Laura J. (Bickel) Allgire, age 45, of Marion, Indiana, who died on July 28, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with frontotemporal dementia. Born and raised in Marion Indiana, Laura graduated from Marion High School in 1998 and went on to earn associate degrees from Indiana Business College in 2002 and Ivy Tech Community College in 2019. Throughout her life, Laura dedicated herself to serving others—working in both tax preparation and hospitality—always offering a kind word, a listening ear, and a steady presence to everyone she encountered. Laura was a gentle soul with a heart for helping. Though naturally quiet, she had a thoughtful sense of humor and deeply valued the small, meaningful connections she made with others. She was a proud member of the Marion Church of the Brethren, where she found strength in her faith and peace in the truth that she would one day be reunited with her loved ones in Heaven. She loved Disney movies, computer games, and her pet cat Lakeasha—but above all, Laura cherished her role as an aunt. Time spent with her nephew James brought her tremendous joy, and she embraced every moment with love and pride. Laura is survived by her mother Donna Bickel; brother David (Jennifer) Bickel; and nephew, James. She is also survived by four aunts: Bonnie Roberts, Carol McDaniel, Kathy Nichols, and Sharleen (Jim) Sweeney, eight cousins, and eight bonus nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry W. Bickel; maternal grandparents Charlie and Rose Miller; paternal grandparents John and Helen Bickel; two uncles: Kenny Roberts and Jim McDaniel; and a close companion, Jeremy Vargo, whose memory remained dear to her heart. Though her time with us was far too short, Laura’s legacy lives on in the kindness she shared, the lives she touched, and the quiet strength with which she carried herself. She will be remembered always for her compassion, her gentle humor, and the enduring love she gave so freely. A celebration of life open house will be held on August 23, 2025 at the Church of the Brethren in Marion, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made in Laura’s memory to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) to support continued research, advocacy, and care for those facing this devastating illness. Laura will be deeply missed and forever loved. May her memory be a blessing and her gentle spirit live on in all who knew her.
