John "JB" Edward Blevins Sr.

With great sadness, John "JB" Edward Blevins Sr., 74 passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2024. “When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.” So, his lifelong memories will remain with those who will truly miss him dearly. John was born in Princeton Indiana to Charles and Virginia (Goff) Blevins. His family moved to Daleville Indiana where he graduated from Daleville High School on May 23, 1967. After graduation, John enlisted in the U.S. Army from 7/5/67 to 6/25/70 and honorably served in the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam he had the courage and honor to serve his country. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and two Overseas Bars. His dedication and commitment to serve was just the beginning of how his life would unfold in the years to come. John attended Indiana Vocational Technical College in 1986 and in the same year got a degree in accounting at Ivy Tech. He was a hard worker and dedicated to all the various jobs throughout his life. John retired in 2017 after working for Carter Express Inc. where he received The Million Mile Safe Driver Award. He loved reading a good book, watching his favorite TV game show Jeopardy, and working crossword puzzles. Back in the day, he loved running and even ran in the Mini Marathon in Indianapolis. He loved going on vacations especially when he knew the time would be spent at the ocean. When it came to sports, he loved playing golf and bowling. His favorite sports teams were the Pacers, Colts, and IU. John’s greatest time in watching sports was seeing both his sons playing basketball. Truly, the happiest moments of his life were spending time with his family and friends. John never lost his sense of humor in making us laugh, his kindness, support, and his caring for others never ceased. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Virgina Blevins. John is survived by his wife, Denise; his 2) sons - John (Dionne) Blevins Jr and James Blevins; daughter - Crystal McDannold; stepdaughters; Lynsey (Stephen) Rosencrans and Cassie (Dean) Freije; 9) grandchildren - Isaac, Evy, Rhett, Cecilia, Nora, Raegan, DJ, Zachary and Silas; beloved sister - Marsha (Bob) Hudson; half brother - Harry (Mary) Reed and his niece - Elizabeth (Brent) Ladd along with her family, Wes (Katie), Colleen and Rhianna. At his request, no service will be held. The immediate family will have a private graveside service later this week. The family would like to thank Chaplain Ken Cavanagh for the blessing and honoring John. Also, Robert Loose Funeral Home for their sympathy and support during our heartbroken loss.
