Robert K. Jarvis

Anderson - Our beloved father, Robert Bob K. Jarvis, 84, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2013, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. Dad was born in Anderson on April 27, 1928 to Harry and Lillie Stottlemyer Jarvis where he resided most of his life. During his lifetime he was employed with the New York Central Railroad, Madison County Lumber Company, Delco Remy, Anderson Newspaper and retired from Anderson Bank after 20 years of service. After his retirement he continued to work. While living at Beverly Terrace Apartments he became the building maintenance man. He was also an excellent painter throughout the years. Our father was known to be the life of the party. For those who weren't blessed to know him he had the bluest eyes, and an infectious smile. He enjoyed golf, cards, fishing and bowling. He played and coached little league baseball with his sons, and was a trustee and member of the F.O.E.. One of our favorite memories of dad was when he flagged at Sun Valley Speedway, and was photographed with the actor James Garner. To us kids we thought that was the greatest! Dad enjoyed going to the Hoosier Park not only to watch the horse races, but in hopes to "get lucky" when betting on his favorite horse to win. He loved his family very much, and will be greatly missed. Dad is survived by his sons, Rodney Jarvis of Oregon, Ronald Dennis and Robert Allan Jarvis of Anderson. Daughter, Denise John Blevins of Anderson. Brothers, Paul Jean Jarvis of Anderson and Harry Jarvis of South Carolina. There are a total of 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild to carry on his legacy, and whom he cherished very much. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra; son, Ricki Lynn; granddaughter Devin Renee; and 6 brothers and 4 sisters. A special Thank You to the doctors and nurses in the Critical Care Unit and on the sixth floor, along with Hospice. Your compassion, support, and care during our fathers journey to his heavenly home was very appreciated during this time. To honor our fathers wishes, no funeral service will occur. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of our fathers life on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 3 pm to 6 pm.
