Thomas C Sheets

Thomas C Sheets, 86 of Anderson, passed away on Sunday evening March 5, 2023. He was born on January 6, 1937, in Anderson, the son of William Sheets and Eva Ashby. Tommy began his career at Sheets Gulf then later worked for Nicholson File. He retired from General Motors. After retirement, he worked with his son at Sheets Transmission where you could find him helping tear apart transmissions or napping in a comfy chair. Tommy's hobbies included riding motorcycles with his brother-in-law Butch, camping, and collecting and; recycling pop cans. Tommy's passion though was racing. He started with his family then built cars with his son-in-law Chuck before building cars with his son where they owned several cars and raced at Sun Valley, now Anderson Speedway. They also liked racing other tracks like Mt. Lawn, Winchester, Muncie Motor speedway, Salem, and Plymouth speedway. Tommy also immensely enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family was very special to him, and he was very special to them. Tommy was proceeded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 66 years, Darlene; his great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Fullen and Katie Robinett. Also, his 4 brothers, Robert, Wayne, Larry, Gerald, and 3 sisters, Judy, Phyllis, and Kay. Tommy is survived by a sister, Linda Bigham (Larry), brother Billie Sheets (Sharon), his children Tomya Burton (Chuck), Cindy Gwin, Doug Sheets (Nina), and Toby Sheets (Michelle); grandchildren, Jennifer Fullen (Jason), Robin Jones (Ed), Michael Isenhour, Matt Isenhour, Melissa Gwin, Cody Sheets, Mollie Cole (Jeremy), Allison Dinndorf (Kenny Robinett), Erin Jones (Ryan), and Emma Sheets; and 19 great-grandchildren. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the family of Bethany Pointe for taking great care of Dad. He sure was a favorite of the staff there. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson, with Jennifer Fullen and Nina Sheets Officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family asks that casual clothing be worn by all attendees. The burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
