Steven Ashley

Steven Ashley, 39, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on August 4, 2025, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born on October 27, 1985, in Anderson, Steven was a proud graduate of Anderson High School, earning his diploma in 2004. He remained deeply connected to the community throughout his life and was a longtime member of South Meridian Church of God. Steven’s life was centered around his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karla, and their three children: Kaylee, Andrew, and Sadie. His devotion to them was unwavering—he cherished every moment spent together, whether it was going to the movies as a family or celebrating holidays with joy and enthusiasm. Spoiling his kids whenever he could brought him immense happiness. Steven is also survived by his mother Ginger Caylor and step-father David Caylor along with father Cary Ashley and step-mother Spring Ashley. Siblings Brianna Ashley, Andrea (Ben) Sandoval, Allison Ashley, Mark Ashley and Courtney (Darcie Marquadt) Caylor. Grandparents: Bernadine Acker; Ray Ashley and Barbara Ashley. A passionate sports fan, Steve followed most sports with enthusiasm. He especially loved IU basketball and football, the Cincinnati Reds, and the New York Rangers. But above all else, he was a lifelong Indianapolis Colts fan—a passion that serendipitously led him to meet Karla. His love for the team became a meaningful thread woven into the fabric of their life together. Steve also had a lifelong fascination with roller coasters. Even when health challenges limited his ability to fully indulge in this passion, he found ways to share it with those he loved. Just this past July, he took a special trip with his family to Holiday World—a joyful outing where he was able to triumph over his ailments and enjoy his love of coasters with his son. Known for his quick wit and unique talent for naming things—names that always seemed to stick—Steve had an infectious personality that drew people in. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. His warmth and humor left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to know him. Steven was preceded in death by his grandfather Paul Acker; grandmother Florence Caylor; grandfather Bob Caylor; grandmother Holly (Glover) Stanley; grandfather John Abbott; grandfather Robert Wood; and grandmother Jeri Wood. Steven Ashley’s legacy lives on through the love he shared with his family and the countless lives he touched with kindness and laughter. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on August 12, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM at South Meridian Church of God 2402 Meridian Street with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service.
