Stephen Max Brown

Stephen Max Brown, 79, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Anderson, Indiana. He was born on May 28, 1946, in Anderson to Mansel and Beatrice (Johnson) Brown. Stephen married his beloved wife, Kathleen Brown (Downey), on April 30, 1977. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for 30 years, retiring in 1998, and worked for General Motors for 43 years before retiring in 2008. He enjoyed NASCAR, beach vacations-especially Panama City Beach-and spending time with his grandchildren. Stephen rarely missed their sporting events and took great pride in watching them compete, including Louisville baseball and Penn State gymnastics. The family extends sincere thanks to the Community Hospital ICU staff and Dr. Saad Ullah and his team for their compassionate care. Stephen will be remembered for his dedication to family, country, and a life well lived. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Brown; daughter, April (Jeff) Beitz; granddaughter, Lauren Beitz; son, Todd (Cristina) Brown; grandson, Jack Brown; granddaughter, Lucy Brown; daughter, Shelley (Tony Greene) Fisher; grandson, Jordan (Riley) Worley; great-granddaughter, Ava Worley; grandson, Brandan Chapman; grandson, Austin Chapman; granddaughter, Kesh (Nick) Phebus; great-grandson, Conrad Phebus; great-grandson, Nolan Phebus; son, Rob (Claudia) Fisher; grandson, Lucas Fisher; granddaughter, Marisa Fisher; sister, Carolyn Binkley; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Nathan Beitz; father and mother-in-law, Paul and Alma Downey; brother-in-law, Ralph Binkley. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 18th, 2026 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson Indiana 46013.
