Sandra Ann (Ziegler) Moffett

“The littlest bird sings the prettiest song.” Sandra Ann (Ziegler) Moffett died unexpectedly Monday, January 24th of a heart attack. Sandy was born in East St Louis to Lavinia (Wolf) and Harry Ziegler in 1936 and raised in Anderson by Lavinia and Albert T. Green. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1954 and attended Ball State University. She joyfully worked at Moneyhun’s Fine Gifts for 35 years, accidentally driving into the building not once, but twice. Sandy lived in San Diego, California; Raleigh, North Carolina; and New Port, Rhode Island while her first husband Norman “Duke” Kendall was in the navy, returning to her beloved hometown of Anderson to raise her family, and later marrying Warren “Pete” Moffett after the loss of Duke to cancer. Pete and Sandy were together for 50 years, welcoming all with open arms and a hug to sit at the kitchen table for a visit to share in your joy, divide your pain, and hear amazing stories peppered with laughter and wisdom. Always the heart and soul of her family, Sandy was also a collector of friends, recreational shopper, beautiful singer, wordsmith, and master storyteller. She radiated strength and positivity serving as the “the rock” for family and many friends. Facing adversity and hardships head-on, she always found the good in difficult situations and people. Her laugh, warmth, and Christmas cookies are cherished by those she touched on her colorful journey through life. Sandy was proceeded in death by husband Norman Kendall, husband Warren Moffett, son Kevin Kendall and sister Marsha Whittenberger. Sandy is survived by sisters Betty Quinn and Sharon Meyer, brother Harry Ziegler, children Shawn Kendall, Colleen (Kendall) Corp, Meghan Moffett (husband Don Dziekanowski), daughter-in-law, Nancy Kendall: Grandchildren Kelsey (Kendall) Baker (husband Max Baker), Courtney Kendall, Michael Kendall, Oliva Corp, Mason Dziekanowski and Corbin Dziekanowski as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, American Cancer Society, Christian Center, Dove Harbor, or to the donor’s favorite charity.
