Robert Symmes

Pendleton - Robert "Mike" Symmes, 64, Pendleton, died August 7, 2008 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana. He was born May 15, 1944 in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in Madison County most of his life. Mike was a Highland High School graduate and Ball State University graduate with a degree in accounting. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He was the owner of R.M. Symmes & Company. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was very involved with his children's school activities as well as many civic organizations. Mike was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church; National Association of Public Accountants; American Legion Post #408 and Amvets Post #692. He is survived by his wife whom he married June 18, 1966, Charlotte Wells Symmes; daughters, Michelle Thomas Boyd of Fishers, Deborah Gregory Pope of Westfield and Kristen Justin Bixler of Bloomington; granddaughters, Olivia & Madeline Boyd; grandsons, Griffin & Hayden Pope and Jackson Bixler; mother-in-law, Evelyn Wells Addison of Cadiz; siblings, Suzy Ralph King of Fort Branch, Richard L. Marie Symmes of Anderson, James A. Debbie Symmes of Kentucky and Thomas L. Lee Ann Symmes of Chesterfield; special aunt, Judy Conklin of Daleville; uncle, William Keys Dorothy of Chesterfield; aunt, Jo Troxell of Crawfordsville and sister-in-law, Cindy Wells of North Carolina. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Naomi Keys Symmes; sister, Kathy Foy; grandparents, Mitchell & Cora Keys; brother-in-law, Stephen Wells and fathers-in-law, Lowell R. Wells and James M. Addison. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 PM on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 11:30 AM, at funeral home, south chapel, with Rev. Ned Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery-Mechanicsburg with military rites by the VFW Post #266.
