Philip Franklin Montague

Philip Franklin Montague, 65, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Anderson. Phil was born on December 16, 1960, in Noblesville, Indiana, to John and Joyce (Nevitt) Montague. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1979 and went on to build a dedicated career as a System Technician with AT&T, where he worked faithfully for 25 years. He shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Cathy. Their life together was rooted in love, devotion, and a lifetime of shared memories. Phil had a deep love for racing. He enjoyed spending time at Anderson Speedway and was also an avid fan of NASCAR, rarely missing the opportunity to watch a race. Whether at the track or at home in front of the television, racing brought him great excitement and joy. He loved to fish and found peace in the quiet moments by the water. Phil especially cherished visiting the mountains of Tennessee, where he appreciated the beauty and serenity of nature. A talented cook, he enjoyed preparing Italian meals for his family and friends, bringing everyone together around the table. He also had a passion for restoring cars, taking pride in breathing new life into classic vehicles. Phil was known for his generous heart and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He formed lifelong friendships built on loyalty and trust. Above all, he loved his family and his dogs deeply, and nothing meant more to him than the time spent with those he loved. Phil is survived by wife, Cathy (Allison) Montague; sons, P.J. (Christina) Montague and Levi D. Montague; father, John Montague; brothers, Gary Montague and Kevin Montague; granddaughter, Haylee Jones-Montague; grandson, Jeremiah Montague; grandson, Jaxon Montague; granddaughter, Airyonna Hudson; step-grandchildren, Karson, Emma and Natalie; mother-in-law, Mil Ligon; sister-in-law, Julie Allison; niece, Laci Montague; niece, Brooklyn Widener; niece, Katelyn Bates; niece, Heather Tate; nephew, Devon Montague; nephew, Nick Pierce; nephew, C.J. Stuller; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many lifelong friends. Phil was preceded in death by his son, Jordan M. Montague; mother, Joyce Simmons; step-father, Cleon Simmons; sister, Debbie Bates; niece, Jennifer Bates; and father-in-law, John Allison. In accordance with Phil's wishes, there will be no services. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Phil will be remembered for his kind spirit, strong work ethic, and the many lives he touched.
