Pamela Anne Ritchison

Anderson-Pamela Anne Barnett Ritchison went home to her Lord's waiting arms on Monday, January 26, 2009. Born September 25, 1950, Pammy was a loving mom and wife and a devoted 6th grade teacher for many years at St. Ambrose elementary school here in Anderson. She held a BA and MA in elementary education from Ball State University. She fought a courageous battle with ovarian cancer for the last 6 months. Her love for her family will live for years to come. She touched her many students and always tried to help let their talents shine. She found the best in them and challenged them to let their lights shine for the world to be a better place. Our challenge now is to take her light that she shared through love and kindness and let the world see a glimmer of her as we love those around us. Pamela and her husband, John, lived four years in Portugal and travelled Europe. She spoke fluent Portuguese and French. She loved learning new cultures and shared that with her students when she returned to the states. She will be always remembered by her husband of 36 years, John D Ritchison, "JD" and her precious sons. Son Andrew J. Ritchison, M.D. and his wife Sarah Crane Ritchison M.D. plus the light of her eye, her grandson Alexander Logan Ritchison live in Carmel. Son Adam D. Ritchison and his wife Erin McIntire live in Arlington Texas. She is survived by her Mother Anne O. Proch Barnett of Anderson and was predeceased by her Father, Donald Keith Barnett in 2002. She has an older brother James Patrick Barnett and his wife and dear friend to Pam, Carolyn Berry living in Anderson. Their children are Brian Barnett and Karen Ahearn of Coco Beach, Florida and Emily Barnett Sharp and husband Nigel of Australia. She has a younger brother Bruce Kevin Barnett and his wife Crystal living in Batesville. Their children are Mindy Conaway and her husband Nate with Chloe and Emma of Kokomo and Keith Barnett of Portland, Indiana and step-children A.J., Luke and Carla daughter Charlie of Bloomington. She has a sister-in law , Cindy Stamper; niece, Tracy Ballege; nephew, Bobby Stamper and friend, Pat Ritchison. She leaves behind many other cousins, aunts and uncles including her favorite Aunt Mary and Uncle John Bagan of Youngstown, Ohio, their son Johnny and her favorite special cousin, Mary Beth Bagan Beeman and Jim Beeman. She laughed much with her lifelong friends Ruthie Bramlage, Anne Brewster Herrold and husband, Bob plus Stephanie Hall. Her very happy days with all her teacher-friends at St. Ambrose as well as the fine principals and church staff meant much to Pammy; but, above all she felt privileged to be a part of the lives of her many students. Calling hours are 4 to 8 on Thursday, January 29, 2009 and the funeral will be Friday, January 30, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Robert Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson. Rev. Steve Lane of Southern Heights, where she was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Anderson. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ambrose School.
