Mildred K. Lanane

Anderson - Mildred K. Shaffer Lanane, 85, Anderson, died January 3, 2005 at St. Johns Health System, Anderson Indiana after a brief illness. She was born December 7, 1919 in Anderson, Indiana, and was a lifelong Anderson resident. She had been a nurse at Delco Remy Division of General Motors from 1941 to 1946 and 1955 to 1957. She was a private practice nurse for Dr. William Hart from 1946 to 1948. She retired as a nurse from St. John's Health System on January 1, 1985 after 25 years of service. She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, St. John's School of Nursing and St. Francis College of Jolliet, Illinois. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of the 3rd Order of Franciscans She was also a volunteer at St. John's Children's Clinic and a lifelong supporter of the Democratic Party. She was an avid reader and listener of National Public radio and was interested in classical music and travel. She will be remembered as a woman of wisdom who always offered non-judgemental advise and a wonderful listening ear. She is survived by her Children, Patrick J. & wife Nancy Reichard Lanane of Manchester, Missouri, Timothy S. & wife Cynthia Dawson Lanane of Anderson, Christopher T. & wife Christine Hannon Lanane of Anderson and Maureen & husband Thomas Saur of Noblesville; nine grandchildren, Emily Jeans, Amber Lanane, Angelique Boyle, Katie Lanane, Meaghan Lanane, Drew Lanane, Matthew Lanane, Sebastian Saur and Marcus Saur; two great grandchildren, Nathalie Boyle and Patrick Jeans; many beloved nieces and nephews and a host of wonderful friends. The family would like to express gratitude to the Anderson Public Library Bookmobile and the employees of Nifty Lift for all of their assistance and kindness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Lanane on July 13, 1987; her parents, Clarence & Amber Jones Shaffer and a brother, Joseph Shaffer. Services will be Friday, January 7, 2005 at 9:30 AM, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Robert Williams officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 3-7:00 PM on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel. A vigil service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 4:30 PM at Robert D.
