Mary Flook

Mary (Beason Ellingwood) Flook, 97, passed away on October 28, 2022. She was born on August 27, 1925, in Anderson, Indiana becoming a lifelong resident. Mary raised four children while working at Guide Lamp, retiring after 30 years. Her last years were spent at Legacy, Bethany Pointe in Anderson. Mary’s happy place was her home, either in Anderson, Indiana, or Cortez, Florida, which she and her husband, Gene, loved. She always said they had a good life. Her humor and kindness are what will linger in our memories. She taught her children to work hard, be honest, be kind to others, take pride in their home, spend modestly, save some, and to always wear clean underwear every day in case they were in an accident. Even through Alzheimer’s disease, she never lost her sense of humor. One employee at Legacy said she sure could deliver a punch line. She is survived by her children, Ralph (Arlene) Ellingwood, Jr., Judi (Jerry) Alexander, Nancy (Mel) Jolliff, and Bob (Trish) Ellingwood; step-children, Gene (Tammy) Flook, Jr., and Raena (Butch) Morgan; seven grandchildren and eleven step-grandchildren, several great and great-great-grandchildren; in addition to several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her late husband, Gene A. Flook, Sr., her parents, Edward and Edith Beason, the father of her children, Ralph L. Ellingwood, Sr., her three brothers, and six sisters, including her twin sister, Martha (Cobb) Brockman. Visitation will take place at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, IN, 46013 on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Vale officiating. Entombment will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the employees at Legacy, Bethany Pointe for their kindness and care. They will be forever grateful for the sacrifices the employees made on her behalf. The family also wishes to thank the Paradigm Hospice nurses, aides, social worker, and music therapist for their care and concern. She felt loved and cared for which is the greatest gift she could have received.
