Martha Phelps Obituary Martha F. Phelps, 93, died peacefully on May 12, 2005, at her home at Keystone Woods in Anderson surrounded by her family. Born to Bertha Wentz and Arlan Lee Bowers in Alexandria, she lived most of her life in Anderson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Frank P. Phelps, by her parents and sister, Betty Lee who died as a child. Surviving are her son Frank Lee and daughter-in-law Joy of Anderson; a daughter, Patty Ann and husband Robert Shafer of Noblesville recently moved back to Indiana from Ft. Myers, Florida and daughter Thea Kathryn and husband David Wellington of Camano Island, Washington. Martha was a proud grandmother of: Michael & wife Debra Phelps of Ridgeway, SC; Holly & husband Jeffrey Tucker of Indianapolis; Mitchell & wife Leann Phelps of Indianapolis; Scott & wife Donna Steger of Noblesville; Susan Shafer of Houston, TX; Mark & wife Mary Wellington, Andrew Wellington and Amy & husband Alan Cagle all of the Seattle, Washington area. Her great-grandchildren numbering 14 are: Michael and Stephanie Phelps; Justin and Nicklaus Phelps; Ryan and Joseph Burton; Samuel Tucker; Eric, Evan and Lauren Steger; Mira and Rieko Wellington and Bradley and Matthew Cagle. Martha was a graduate of Anderson high School. Together with her husband, Frank, they provided a home filled with loving care and attention. Her family and friends will remember her as a participant in many clubs and groups in our community. She was a lifelong active member of the New Horizons United Methodist Church formerly Noble Street United Methodist Church; the Daughters of American Colonies; the Daughters of American Revolution; Lady Elks; Life Member of the Order of Eastern Star, Anderson Chapter #154; Anderson Fine Arts Center; Gruenewald House; Early Americana ? Antique Study Club and the Edgewood Country Club. The entire Phelps Family would like to extend a ?thank you? to friends for their prayers and support during these past several months. The Memorial Service to celebrate Martha?s long life will take place at 3:00 PM, Friday, May 27, 2005 at New Horizons United Methodist Church. 611 East 53rd Street, with Rev.
