Marilyn "Joy" Blake

Marilyn "Joy" Blake, 88, of Fishers, passed away on December 12, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to everyone she met. She fully embodied her nickname, Joy, as she lived her life with a twinkle in her eye and joy in her heart. She found strength through her favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight". Joy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey Blake (wife, Jennifer), and son-in-law, Milo Eldridge; 7 grandchildren, Benjamin Eldridge (wife, Julia), Dr. Emily (Blake) Glick (husband, Dr. Matthew Glick), Rachel (Eldridge) Quist (husband, David), Amanda (Blake) Price Esq. (husband, Wade), Dr. Ethan Blake, Samuel Eldridge, and Andrew Blake; one great-granddaughter, Madelyn Glick; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Marty Blake; daughter, Robin Eldridge; sisters, Alma Terry and Wilma Nix; brothers, Ernest Weedman, Donny Weedman, and Gerald Weedman. Joy was an active member for many years in her churches, Atwood Wesleyan (Louisville, KY) and Anderson First Church of the Nazarene (Anderson, IN). She attended Marion College (now Indiana Wesleyan University) and completed her degree as an adult at Indiana University Southeast. She was an elementary school tutor and a kindergarten teacher. She loved spending time with friends, participating in church, entertaining, decorating for Christmas, going on cruises, and crafting in her card-making groups, especially the "Daleville Darlings". Joy loved her family and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, from 1-3 pm at Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street Anderson IN, followed by a graveside service at East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Wesleyan University at indwes.edu or Pancreatic Cancer Research at pancan.org. The family will also welcome friends to a Celebration of Life reception at Independence Village East Fishers at a later date.
