Marilyn Mills Ault

Marilyn Mills Ault, of Anderson, died peacefully at home on May 22, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Anderson, IN, to Milton Mills, Sr. and Lydia Walker Mills at St. John's Hospital on June 24, 1935. Marilyn and her husband, Jim, were married for over 67 event filled years. Their journey together began 72 years ago with their first date at the Anderson High School's Junior Prom. She attended Butler University and was a vocal "Dawgs" basketball fan her entire life. While at Butler, she became a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Marilyn and Jim spent their life in Anderson until they were transferred to Rochester, NY, then Saginaw, MI, culminating with two fantastic years in Paris, France. That was exciting, but she often said that their best move was when they retired and returned to Anderson ... returning to friends and family. She loved her friends, her bridge clubs, the Fruits, the Ducks, the GOLF Girls, and the city of Anderson. Marilyn also loved golf, tennis, skiing, Walloon Lake, travel, Arizona winters, and a little red wine. There were many accomplishments that she could brag about, but mostly she bragged about her two sons, Jeff and Mark. All her life she was very involved in the Anderson community, which she dearly loved. Marilyn co-chaired several community projects with Jim including the restoration of the Carnegie Library into the Anderson Art Center, the new surgical Center at St. Vincent, as well as the annual Golf outing fundraiser for the St. Vincent Children's Clinic. She was also deeply involved in the Anderson Symphony, Literacy Coalition, Anderson Museum of Arts, Victoria Guild, Anderson Area Children's Choir, PEO sorority, American Church in Paris board, and her church for over 80 years, First United Methodist. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Jeff and Mark (Ken); brothers, Milton Jr, John (Barbara), Paul, Bruce (Darla), along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dick, who was killed in Vietnam; sisters-in-law, Susie Mills, Karen Mills, Harriet Ault Wheeler, and Gayle Ault, and brother-in-law, Carl Ault. Services for Marilyn will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, 1:00 pm, at First United Methodist Church, 1215 Jackson St., Anderson, IN, 46016, with Rev. Corinne Boruff officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May, 26, 2024, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm, at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, IN, 46013, and 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Monday, at the church. Burial will take place in The Gardens at Willowcrest Park, Anderson, at a later date.
