Lavern Kruger

Anderson - Lavern Kruger, 93, died February 6, 2009 at home after a extended illness. He was born June 28, 1915 in Massac County, Illinois, close to the Ohio River. He came to the Anderson area in 1955 and was employed at Delco Remy, Division of General Motors, for many years. He retired in 1980. He also ran his own self-employed construction and remodeling business and home rentals. Over his lifetime he was also a farmer, carpenter and iron worker. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Independent Order of Oddfellows #131 IOOF, Ivy Rebekal Lodge #381, Encampment Star #84 all of Anderson and Canton #4 of Muncie. He was also a long time member of the Moose Lodge in Princeton, Indiana and the Royal Neighbors of America. He is survived by his wife; JoAnn Gentry-Thompson of Anderson. His brother; Lester wife, Edna Kruger and sister; Dorothy, both of Metropolis, Illinois. Sister-in-law Doris Krueger of Metropolis, IL. Also surviving are his daughter; Rosemary husband, Grover Malott of Crown Point, Indiana. Daughter-in-law Judy Kruger of Anderson. Two step-children; Linda husband, John Tucker of Anderson and Bill wife, Sandi Thompson of Middletown. Fourgrandchildren; Kimberly "Kim" husband; Richard "Rick" Greene and Scott wife, Robin Kruger both of Anderson, Timothy "Tim" wife, Debbie Malott and Jeffery "Jeff" Malott both of Crown Point, Indiana. Three step-grandchildren; Rachel Martin of Utah, Jeremy wife, Tessa Thompson and Christopher "Chris" Tucker both of Anderson. Four great grandchildren; Andrew wife, Holly Greene and Nathan Greene both of Anderson and Benjamin and Marissa Mallott of Crown Point, Indiana. Two step-grandsons; Alexander and Dominick Patterson of Fishers, In. One step-great granddaughter; Clarice Thompson of Anderson. Several nieces, nephews and several step nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Agnes Kruger of Metropolis, Illinois Massac County. His wife of 56 years; Elsie Aline Yates Kruger. Son; Jerry Kruger. Sister; Valeria Rogers of Anderson. Brothers; Virgil Kruger of Naperville, Illinois and Gilbert Kruger and Melferd Kruger both of Metropolis, Illinois. Brothers-in-law; Marshall Farris, James Walters and Clarence Yates all of Metropolis and Theodore Yates of California. Services will be at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, Anderson, Indiana on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 11:30 AM with Pastor Matthew Manning officiating.
