Kent Alan Thompson

Kent Alan Thompson, 62, of Anderson, passed away on December 5, 2025, at Community Hospital in Anderson, Indiana. He was born on October 7, 1963, in New Castle, Indiana, and resided most of his life in Anderson. Kent graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1982. He belonged to his high school's FFA chapter. He was a ForkLift Operator for CVS for 32 years. In his spare time he would help pull parts at Pat's Salvage and Auto Parts (Ricky Capps). He was an avid NASCAR fan, with his favorite drivers being Harry Gant, Jimmy Johnson, and Jeff Gordon. He spent all of his life at a racetrack, whether that be Mt Lawn Speedway, Anderson Speedway, or traveling to other tracks in other states with friends and family. He started out his racing career being a driver but the last many years he enjoyed being a crew member and helping his friends. He never met a stranger and would help anyone that asked for it. The amount of knowledge he had from the many years of racing he would give with no resistance. The amount of people he would help was astronomical but he had many special friends. He loved to help his son-in-law, Jeremy Hargis, special friends, Trent Gossar and Stagger Pros Racing, and many other friends. He loved to spend time with family, especially going to his granddaughter's softball games. He loved to cheer her on but loved to help coach and watch her grow more. His grandson was his little buddy and they loved to take naps in the rocking chair together. Kent is survived by his loving spouse whom he married 40 years ago, Carol Thompson; daughter, Brittany (Jeremy) Hargis; grandkids, Bayli Riley and Asher Hargis and nephews, Jeffrey and Russell Elliott Jr. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Thompson; parents, Martha and Kenneth Eugene Thompson and siblings, Timmy Thompson and Kathy Elliott. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Thursday, December 11, 2025, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana. Services will follow visitation on Thursday, December 11, 2025, 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Mikel Knepley officiating. Cremation will take place. www.LooseCares.com
