Jerry L. Johnson

Jerry J. Johnson, 70, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2014, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on April 23, 1944, in Sullivan, Indiana, to Charles and Shirley (Pope) Johnson. He graduated from Monrovia High School in 1962. Jerry married Linda (Fowler) Johnson of Martinsville in 1965, and upon the suggestion of his aunt and uncle, Kay & Jason Walls, they moved to Anderson where he worked as a millwright for General Motors for 46 years. Jerry lived life to the fullest and was happiest when surrounded by his family. His many hobbies included boating, four-wheeling, fishing, bowling, camping, biking, playing cards, and completing crossword puzzles in the daily newspaper. He was also very proud of restoring his 1966 Chevelle and loved to take it for drives on nice days. He especially enjoyed vacationing with his family every summer at Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee. He was known to be able to fix anything, and his family, friends, and neighbors knew they could always rely on him to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Jerry's family includes his wife, Linda; his deceased son, Rodney Johnson of Anderson (Angela surviving); his children, Sondra (Troy Towsey) Majors of Punta Gorda, Florida; Eric (Leslie) Johnson of Fishers; and Randy (Ginger) Johnson of Punta Gorda, Florida; siblings, Lloyd (Grethel) Johnson of Paragon, Charlotte (Brent, deceased) McPhail of Monrovia, Trudy (Charles) Gray of Martinsville, Teresa (Mark) May of Jasonville, and Rita (Douglas) Marczak of Linton; grandchildren, Heather Majors, Alex Johnson, Blake Johnson, Drew Majors (fiancee Shelby Mayes) Will Johnson, Hannah Mace, Isabelle Johnson and Dylan Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Doss and Ellis Doss. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 pm, Friday, July 11, 2014 at Robert Loose Fuenral Homes & Crematory; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson. A funeral service will be on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home as well. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview Road; Linton, Indiana where Jerry will be laid to rest next to his parents.
