Jeff "Weaz" Wessel

Jeff Wessel passed away on January 10, 2026, leaving behind a space that cannot be filled and a legacy of love that will never fade. Jeff was a husband, a father, a papaw, and a friend in the truest sense of the word. Above all else, Jeff loved his wife, Danta. She was his anchor, his safe place, and the greatest love of his life. Anyone who knew Jeff knew how deeply he adored her, whether it was the way he looked at her, the way he spoke about her, or the way he’d smile and say, “Yeaah baby,” as if those two words carried everything he felt. Their love was steady, real and unwavering, built on loyalty, laughter and standing side by side through it all. Jeff was most proud of his family, of the life he built, the love he gave, and the role he cherished most: being Papaw. His grandchildren were his heart, his joy and his greatest accomplishment. Alongside them, his dogs held a special place in his life, offering him comfort, companionship and unconditional love that he returned without hesitation. Jeff was a constant presence in the lives of those who knew him, someone who showed up for the milestones and the hard days alike. Through years filled with both joy and struggle, he remained humble, giving man who was deeply thankful for his second chance at life. He carried his past not as a burden, but as proof of how far he had come. His life was a testament to resilience, growth and redemption. Generous to a fault, Jeff would give even when he didn’t have it to give. He never wanted anyone to feel alone, unwelcome, or unseen. If there was a gathering, Jeff was the host, the one opening his home, making sure everyone had what they needed, and bringing people together simply because he loved people. Friends were family to him, and family was everything. Jeff’s love was steady, his presence unmistakable, and his impact immeasurable. He leaves behind countless memories, shared laughter, open doors, late nights and a sense of belonging that only he could create. Forever loved. Forever missed. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Mandy McCoy and Jason Wilson for the exceptional care, compassion, and unwavering support shown to Jeff throughout his cancer journey. From hospital stays to daily care, your dedication and kindness will never be forgotten. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to Kevin Hummell Sr. and Rick “Dog” Harvy for being true friends, always showing up, always standing by Jeff, and offering friendship that never wavered. Special appreciation goes to Brenda Atha and Courtney Finley for the love, support, beautiful flower arrangements, and for always being there with a helping hand when it was needed most. Randy and Tammy Holland from Act 1, for your continuous generosity and support over the years but especially during the past 18 months. Your kindness carried us through some of our hardest days, and we will forever be grateful. Jeff was survived by his wife, Danta Wessel; children, Jeffery Wessel (Amber), Shane McCoy, Laci Schultz (Jesse), Arian Wessel, Mandy McCoy (Jason) and Kelly Brown (Michael); sisters, Kim Carlson and Amy Riddle (Brady); brother-in-law, Jeff Miller; sister-in-law, Lisa Greene and Peggy Vendel (David); his grandchildren, Aiden Schultz (Jazzy), Kian Shultz, Eelan Shultz, Quinlyn Shultz, Kyler Wasson (Chloe), Kaidyn Wasson, Trenton Brown, Braxton Brown and Bailey Brown; a great-granddaughter, Myla Wasson and one on the way in April; special nephew, Collin Miller; and several nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert (Bob) Wessel and mother, Janet Sue Wessel. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street Anderson, Indiana. Services will follow visitation on Saturday, at 6:00 pm at the funeral home with Ron Weller officiating. Cremation will take place.
