James "Jim" L. Ward

James "Jim" L. Ward, 77, of Anderson, passed away on August 25, 2018 at Community Hospital in Anderson . He was born on December 7, 1940 in Anderson, where he resided most of his life. Jim graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1958, and then graduated from Tri State University in 1964 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He worked as a senior engineer for Oldsmoble in Lansing, MI for 8 years. He then left to pursue a career as a sole proprietor and purchased Ward's Awning Co. in Anderson in 1973, and retired in 2007. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anderson, where he served on the Parish Council. Jim also served as the director on the Aspire of Indiana Board (32 years), was very active in the Noon Kiwanis Club, Anderson City Human Relations Commission, MidAmerica Canvas Products Association, and the Anderson Young Life Committee. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Judith (Bingaman) Ward; daughters, Julie (Rob) Tiller of Greenwood, SC, and Jill (John) Ruby of Fishers; grandchildren, David Robert, Abigail Anne, Joel Ward, and Benjamin James Tiller, and Jacob Ward and Elise Ellen Ruby. Also surviving are his siblings; Sandra Howells of Estero, FL, Becky (David) Libler of Brighton, MI, Edward (Cathy) Ward of Noblesville, Ann (Kent) Fisher of Middletown, Tom (Kim) Ward of Hudson, FL, and Mary Beth (Mark) Hittle of Noblesville; brother-in-law, David Bingaman of Cartersville, GA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Estle Cowell and Mary Isabel (Beamer) Ward. Visitation will be held Monday, August 27, 2018, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson, IN. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 28, 2018, 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl St., Anderson, IN 46016 with Monsignor Robert Sell III officiating. Burial will take place in the East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
