Jack August Riedel

Jack August Riedel had a happy and full life, passing away Dec. 7, 2019, just 3 weeks shy of his 85th Birthday. He was born December 30, 1934 in Evanston, IL, the son of Charles William & Anna Lilian (Schueddig) Riedel. Jack was raised in the Chicago area with his Brother Charles William II, living in Rogers Park and Evanston, graduating in the class of 1952 from Evanston Township High School. Jack attended Iowa State Untversity, Northwestern University, and graduated from Iowa's Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, major in Accounting, Jack was a member of SAE Fraternity, and Alpha Kappa Psi Business Fraternity. He met his wife Jean (Shortley) at I.S.U., and they were married in Des Moines, having just celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary November 23, 2019. 62 of those years Jack was "Super Dad" to their 3 children, with so much love and support for Scott, Cyndi (Beggins), & Jeff (Liga), Jeff and Cyndi preceding him in death. Jack was blessed with 7 Grandchildren, Cyndi's & Joe's Ashley & Alex, Scott's & Lyan's Andrew, Allyson & Austin, Jeff's & Lisa's Eric & Anna. Jack answered to "Coach" by al players on the "Small Ball" baseball teams he managed, plus one basketball team in N, and he was "Den Dad" to a Webelos Scout Den. Jack, with Jean, chose to teach the 5th grade Sunday School as their Church Mission. Jack had 62 years of business career successes applying his accounting & finance principles in 4 Fortune 500 companies and 3 private corporations in the for-profit sector, retiring from Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central IN, as Director of Finance. For their widowed Mother Lillian, a job very well done and with much pride, learning that her 2 Sons, Jack & Chuck, for many years listed with their D&B corporations & companies' officers and managers. Jack loved golfing, and was a member of the Edgewood Country Club. He used his membership at the Anderson Y.M.C.A with much diligence. He loved reading & studying, and was very proud of his degree in CONSTITUTION 101 from the Hillsdale's online courses program. Our most sincere Love & Appreciation to the Anderson Community Care Center's Dr, Siddiqui, Nurses, Techs & Team for caring so much, for your love and support. We also thank Anderson Community Hospital's 5th floor Nurses & Technicians for your help and caring this last week....you were wonderful! We thank you Dr. Barmening for your caring support and taking such good care of our Family. Jack's wishes will be honored at Robert D.
