Geraldine "Louise" Roberts Melander

Geraldine "Louise" Roberts Melander, 86, Anderson, passed away on January 22, 2024, at her home following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. Mrs. Melander, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, grew up in Shreveport, LA. After marrying Carl Edward Melander of Oak Park, IL, the couple resided in Anderson, IN since 1959. Louise was a very active member of the Anderson First United Methodist Church, having served in many capacities. She was also an active and supporting member of the Kikthawenund Chapter, Anderson, IN. Louise loved the members of her chapter and was an organizer of the Wreaths Across America project. She was treasurer for many years. For over 30 years, she volunteered with the Victoria Guild of St. John’s Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Melander, a daughter, Carla Jean, and her son-in-law, Phillip Allen McIntosh. Survivors include daughter, Julie Lynn Melander, of Orem, UT; son, Robert Carl Melander and his wife, Julia Masters Melander, of Noblesville, IN; daughter, Jana Melander Butler and her husband, Michael Butler, of Oldsmar, FL; seven grandchildren, Erin Lynn McIntosh and her husband, Conor Veeneman, Tara Elizabeth McIntosh, and Sean Phillip McIntosh, all of Murfreesboro, TN, Philip Carl Melander and his wife, Renee McKinney Melander, of Elwood, IN, Matthew William Butler, of Greenville, SC, Molly Christine Butler, of Oldsmar, FL and Libby Michelle Butler, of Columbia, SC. Louise also dearly loved her great-grandchildren, Rory Alister Melander and Peri Ann Melander, of Elwood, IN. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 29, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Anderson First United Methodist Church, 1215 Jackson Street, Anderson, with Rev. Corinne Boruff officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 1:00-5:00 P.M. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson, and on Monday from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
