Ezra A Burnett

Ezra A. Burnett, 98, passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was born on March 30,1919 in Thompkinsville, KY to Ike and Annie Burnett. Ezra (Ado) was very proud to have served his country from 1941 to 1945 in the U.S. Army. Upon returning home from the service he met the love of his life, Nanella Johnson. The two married and lived in Tennessee for several years. Ezra and Nanella moved to Anderson in 1950 where he worked for Delco-Remy until he retired after 42 1/2 years. He was a member of the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ for over 50 years. Ezra was an avid fisherman. He traveled all over the United States with his granddaughter, Shannon, to find "the biggest" fish. They both caught their trophies on a trip to Florida. He threw Shannon's back but kept and mounted his. After retiring, Ezra wanted a hobby so he learned to bowl at the age of 80. He became an avid bowler participating on two teams at Coopers. Ezra was a wonderful husband, father, friend, grandpa, great-great grandpa who will be truly missed, but never forgotten. He is survived by three children, Mike (Theresa) Burnette, Anita (Marshall) Ross, and Roger (Kathy) Burnett; six grandchildren, Matt Burnette, Jordon Burnette, Brianne (Josh) Hogan, Jeff (Hannah) Burnett, Jen Burnett, Shannon (Adam) Bodkin; several great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers, Clarence and Carlos (Banna) Burnett; and sister, Mary Olgine. Ezra was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Nanella; son, Jim; daughter, Wanda; grandson, Ben; brothers, Ray and Earl; sister, Jessie Pearl; and a very special friend for many years who made Ezra smile again, Juanita Young. The family would like to dedicate a special thank you to all the staff members at both Bethany Pointe and Heartland Hospice for all their love and support. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Loose Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street. Charlie Soden will officiate the funeral service at 1:00 pm following visitation. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson, where the U.S. Army and Daleville American Legion will conduct graveside military rites. Online condolences:www.loosecares.com
