With broken hearts, we share the passing of our precious son, Dakota Robert Sage Thompson, who left us far too soon, just six weeks after gracing us with his warmth and love. Although his time with us was short, it was filled with moments of pure joy, and we are forever grateful for the gift of having him in our lives. From the moment he arrived, Koda had a special way of making the world feel softer. He loved nothing more than being wrapped in the warmth and comfort of his parents’ arms. His little hands and feet, always seeking warmth and closeness, will forever remain etched in our hearts. Whether nestled close, his peaceful expressions were a reflection of the love and safety he felt in the arms of those who adored him. Though his life was brief, the love he brought into our lives was immeasurable. His presence will forever be felt in the quiet, tender moments we shared—his tiny coos, the way his face lit up when he was snuggled close, and the way he found peace in the warmth of those who loved him. Koda is survived by his loving parents, Ariel and Brickland Thompson, who will carry him in their hearts forever. He was also deeply loved by his brother, Andrew Smith; two sisters, Genesis and Tequila Thompson; nana, Tina Smith; grandparents, Brandi Coy, Charles Keel, Misty Smith, Brittany Moss; grandmom, Nikki Smothers; two uncles, Hunter Martin and Tre Baker; aunts, Emily Roberts and Stacey (Damon) Cox; and several great aunts and uncles and cousins, who cherished every moment spent with him. He was preceded in death by mamaw, Tequila “Quila” Coy; momo, Neina Keel; uncles, Dakota Roberts and Terry Joe “TJ” Martin; and great-grandparents, Debbie and Steve Storms and Wilma and Jack Hensley. In honor of Koda, we ask for prayers and love as we navigate this painful time. His legacy will live on through the love he shared, and the warmth he brought to all who held him. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that his spirit is wrapped in the eternal love he so deeply craved, now in the arms of those who went before him. May you rest peacefully, our sweet Koda. We will love you forever. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ken Kreish, Anita and Harold Smith, Brittany Davis, Pastor Williams, and everyone who attended his memorial ride. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, Anderson, Indiana.
