Bennie C. Westmoreland

Bennie Clure Westmoreland, 91, of Anderson, passed away on October 15, 2023, at the Bethany Pointe Legacy with his family by his side. He was born on May 25, 1932, to Clure and Leada (Walker) Westmoreland in Celina, TN. Bennie married Mary Jane Phillips in Livingston, TN on September 8, 1954, and she passed away on August 2, 2008. They had three daughters, Carolyn, Marsha, and Martha (deceased). Bennie attended Columbus Avenue Church of Christ for many years. He was a member of Anderson Road Runners for 40 years, still running at the age of 89. Bennie enjoyed fishing, skating, skiing, square dancing, and playing bingo, but most of all spending time with his family. He retired from Delco-Remy after 30 years of service. In his younger years, he did construction work and worked part-time doing electrical work. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, his daughter, Martha Boles on November 6, 2012, his brother Cullum, his sister, Marie Wells, his in-laws, John and Belle (Harvey) Phillips, his sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Horton Moore, and his son-in-law, Sam Boles. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Wright (Rondal) and Marsha Savage (Jerry); his grandchildren, Michael Wright (Amanda), Shane Savage (Cindy), Lisa Kercher (Kirk), Richard Faucett (partner, Brian), Shawna Miller (companion, Adam), Kasheala May, and Aaron Boles (companion, Sabrina); his great-grandchildren, Annalisa, Brett, and Ashley Kercher, Elijah Wright, and Kali and Ayla Savage; his brothers, Hurbert Westmoreland (Robajean), of Alabama, and Roy Westmoreland (Demple), Jimmy Westmoreland (Peggy), and David Westmoreland (Helen), all of Tennessee; his sister-in-law, Maranda Phillips, of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; also a special friend, Darlene Ball, and many friends from the Road Runners Club, especially J. B. Dulworth. The Westmoreland Family would like to thank all the staff from Bethany Pointe and Paradigm Health. We love you and are going to miss you Daddy...Carolyn, Marsha, and families. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 5-8 P.M. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. with Mr. Charlie Sowden officiating, and visitation from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.
