Andrew Michael Freeman

Anderson - Andrew Michael Freeman, 27, of Anderson, died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He graduated from Anderson High School in 2004. He had worked various jobs and decided to honor his country, family, and friends by enlisting in the United States Army in January, 2009. He completed Infantry school and Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He became a member of the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment and joined the war effort in Afghanistan. He earned several Army Achievement Medals, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with the Campaign Star, the NATO Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and many Recognition Awards for his hard work, dedication, and selfless service to his country and fellow servicemen. He loved playing baseball, golf, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his father, Stephen stepmother, Stephanie Freeman; his mother, Christina Freeman; sister, Amanda Matzenbacher, stepsister, Monica Hollies; stepbrother, Justin Hollies; grandparents, Morris & Maurita Freeman; grandmother, Nancy Lantz; step grandparents, Harold wife, Gertrude Granger; & step grandmother, Judy Waymire. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces; and the true love of his life, Heather Majors. There are many friends and fellow military men who were also very special to him. Andrew's last act of compassion to his fellow man was the desired donation of his organs and tissues. On Veteran's Day, 2012; approximately 13 individuals received Andrew's personal contribution to their lives. The family would like to thank our extended families from the Anderson Fire Department, St. John's Emergency Department, Riverview Emergency Department, Anderson Police Department, Anderson Community Schools Food Service and Harvest Supermarket for their show of love and support. They would also like to thank the compassionate staff of St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis, and IOPO. Visitation will be held at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, Indiana, from 2-8 PM on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Services will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:30 AM at the funeral home with Rev.
